2020 Festival: The Show will Go On

You may have been concerned that our Festival in October would be affected by the Government’s most recent announcement on social gatherings. Please be assured that this is not the case. Our plans regarding putting on our 28th Festival remain the same and we will continue to adhere to the regulations that ensure venues such as Cedars Hall can remain open. Please note however that we will no longer be able to take bookings for groups of more than six people.

We are also delighted to announce that Helen Taylor will be talking about Why Women Read Fiction at 2.00 pm on Saturday 24 October. Helen, who is also interviewing Pragya Agarwal and Janice Hadlow during the Festival, has kindly agreed to speak in place of Donal Ryan who has had to withdraw for family reasons.

As explained in our brochure, all Festival events will be live-streamed this year to ensure that, despite limited tickets due to social distancing, everyone can enjoy our splendid programme, wherever they are. Full details of live-streaming and how to access it will be announced on our website towards the end of September. Subscribe to our newsletter to make sure you are kept informed. The service will be free but we would be very grateful for donations. A Covid-safe Festival is not cheap – and we would still hope to support our many local educational projects.
