2022 Book for Children Competition

Our Book for Children Judge Lucy Cuthew

This year we welcome Lucy Cuthew to our 30th Anniversary Festival as judge in the Book for Children Competition.

Lucy Cuthew is the author of more than 30 books for children. Her debut novel Blood Moon (Walker Books), a YA verse novel, was nominated for the 2021 CILIP Carnegie Medal, shortlisted for the 2021 Wales Book of the Year Award Amazing Book Awards and selected as a USBBY Outstanding International Book. 

Lucy is a lecturer on the MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University and speaks regularly on the BBC about children’s literature.

Prize money in the Book for Children category is 1st £750, 2nd £300, 3rd £200 plus a Local Prize of £100.

Our International Competitions opened on 1 April 2022, and closed at midnight on 30 June 2022. Prizes for all four competitions will be presented on Monday 17 October 2022 during the Festival.  This special occasion is one of the highlights of the Festival when, for the first time, the winning writers are revealed and rewarded.
