One Boy, Two Bills and a Fry Up

Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting will go far. And he has already come a great distance – as this heart-warming, heart-breaking memoir illustrates. Brought up on a Stepney council estate, he saw his teenage parents struggle to provide for him. He witnessed the humiliation and agony they went through deciding whether to feed the meter and heat the flat or put food on the table.
Wes might have ended up in prison, not parliament. His maternal grandfather Bill, an unsuccessful armed robber, spent time behind bars, as did his grandmother. Wes, on the other hand, received help and inspiration from the characters that surrounded him, especially his paternal grandfather (also called Bill), which ultimately set him on the way to Cambridge, then Parliament.
A tribute to love and support.
