Exclusive: Our First 2019 Event

On Monday 15 July local writer and historian Ben Kane will be speaking at Cedars Hall at a very special – invitation only – event for our Friends and supporters. Known chiefly for his hugely enjoyable and engaging historical novels set in Roman times, Ben is also highly respected for his meticulous research and authentic detail. He even marches in full Roman gear when investigating his subjects. Ben, who lives in Somerset, will be talking about his passion for all things Roman… and how this influences his writing – and indeed his life!

Ben Kane - The Falling SwordThere will be a chance to ask questions afterwards, followed by a reception with light refreshments. Members of the WFL Committee will also be on hand to share details of our forthcoming Festival.

This event, entertaining though it will be, is not by any means the only reason for deciding to become a Friend of the Festival. You can read about all the other benefits of becoming a friend on our Support Us page.

15 July is also the date our brochure will be widely available and priority booking (for friends and sponsors) starts that day too. Keep an eye on this website for more information, or subscribe to our newsletter. Our 2019 speakers look set to promise another brilliant Festival this October.
