Poetry’s Most Coveted Award

Poetry's most Coveted Award with Liz BerryHuge congratulations to forthcoming Festival speaker Liz Berry who has won the Forward Prize in the category ‘best single poem’. This much coveted award was made for her wonderful poem The Republic of Motherhood which features in her current collection of the same name.  The Forward Prize has played a key role in bringing contemporary poetry to the attention of the wider public for a quarter of a century. Past winners include Seamus Heaney, Ted Hughes and Carol Ann Duffy to name but a few.

This event, just like some others at our increasingly popular Festival, will give Wells audiences the chance to be entertained by an up-and-coming young star with a great future ahead of them. On Sunday 21 October for instance we have an evening dedicated to showcasing the diverse talents of local artists, poets, film-makers, musicians – the list goes on.

Of course many of our speakers are already well established household names. They are known and respected for their particular expertise both nationally and internationally.  Some of these leading names have already sold out or are about to be. Don’t risk missing events at the Festival.
