2018 Pre-Festival Event: For Friends and Supporters

If you have ever considered becoming a Friend of the Festival, but never quite got round to it, now is definitely the time to act! The countdown to our 2018 Festival has begun, and over the next few weeks we will reveal our speakers and the huge range of subjects they will be covering; this year might well be our most diverse to date.

To celebrate this magnificent programme, we are arranging a special pre-Festival event in Cedars Hall on Saturday 30 June. This invitation only event is a ‘thank you’ to our Friends and supporters and will provide the perfect opportunity to introduce them to each other, and to our splendid new venue, Cedars Hall. We are also delighted to welcome Nathan Filer back to Wells. Nathan’s talk in 2014 on his debut novel, Costa Prize winner The Shock of the Fall, was a huge success. At this special event he will be telling Festival guests a little about his writing career since then, plus treating us to a sneak preview of his current work. The evening will be hosted by William Waldegrave, Festival Patron, and will  include a short history of the Festival by co-founder Pamela Egan. Delicious wine and canapés, plus a chance to mingle, meet and ask questions, will bring the reception to a close.

Priority booking for the Festival itself starts soon afterwards – on Monday 9 July 2018, a full week before tickets go on sale to the general public.

Other benefits of being a Friend include a discount on tickets plus of course the knowledge that you are supporting this wonderful Festival, and the huge number of local educational projects it helps to fund.

Don’t wait too long!
