Caught out by the former Governor of Hong Kong!

When the speakers were announced a few months ago the Festival seemed a long way off. Even when tickets went on sale in July it seemed too easy to ‘wait until summer was over’. Summer is well and truly over and sadly there are too many would-be ticket-buyers who are now regretting those moments of procrastination.

Chris Patten in conversation with William Waldegrave is sold out. So too is the Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting. Even tickets for the first ever Wells Literary Quiz have all been snapped up! But then quizzers are renowned for their quick wit, and even quicker reactions…

A number of events are on the verge of reaching full capacity but there are still some fascinating speakers waiting to be heard. Emily Kenway, Fergus Butler-Gallie, Jim Down, David Reynolds, Ben Judah and Caroline Dodds Pennock will be revealing some enlightening facts on a diverse range of topics – from caregiving to the Church, from life in the ICU to the heart of Winston Churchill, from Europe today to Europe as discovered by indigenous Americans. And the Festival will end with an afternoon of poetry, truth and the stubborn resilience of a defiant town in Ukraine.

Don’t miss any more!
