Still available to enjoy

Our annual Festival of Literature has ended in Cedars Hall, but it continues in homes up and down the country – and all around the world! The brilliant events which have been keeping Wells audiences entertained, informed, amused and engaged since 15 October will remain available for everyone to enjoy until 25 November 2021.

Speakers and audiences alike have been quick to offer compliments and congratulations to the WFL team for yet another (our 29th!) splendid Festival:

David Lister, Independent journalist:

It’s friendly, welcoming and intimate, yet at the same time offering a really wide range of leading authors, and books that are making waves.

Peter Stanford, 2021 speaker

Wells is the perfect literary festival: picture-postcard setting in the shadow of its wonderful cathedral, brilliant modern venue and an enthusiastic, encouraging, enquiring and book-loving audience.

Lucy Atkins, Book Group speaker

I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a festival event as much as the one I’ve just done at Wells – there was a big crowd of engaged and friendly readers, and a warm welcome by the organisers.

Lucy Strange, Schools Event speaker

A glorious celebration of books,

Visitors from Hertfordshire

Thank you and congratulations to you and all your colleagues who organised such a successful festival. All the sessions we crammed in to our four days were good, some absolutely brilliant.

Overheard in the audience

Wonderful, Fantastic, Lively – Wow! I do believe we have WFL.

Events are free to watch and you can register for as many events as you like, as often as you want (until 25 November 2021). But we would very much welcome donations which, as always, will be put to excellent use helping support educational projects in the local area.
